Longtime MATC Professor Passes Away

The Manhattan Area Technical College community mourns the death of Dr. Marlene Kay Sedillos, who passed away on September 21, 2020. Dr. Sedillos taught a variety of communication and English courses for 14 years at the College.

 Dr. Sedillos began her teaching career in K-12 before transitioning into college level courses with Barton County Community College where she worked for 13 years prior to finishing her career at MATC. She was a native of Manhattan, Kansas and had ancestors tracing back to the founders of Manhattan.

In memoriam, MATC will display a framed Declaration concerning Dr. Sedillos in her classroom and at the welcome desk next week.

A funeral mass will be held at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday September 30, 2020. In honor of Dr. Sedillos the College will be closed to the public Wednesday from 10am-noon so anyone who wants to attend the funeral may do so.

 The thoughts and prayers of MATC go out to the Sedillos family. She will be greatly missed by the entire Manhattan community.
