Job Description

Job Brief:   

  • To maintain building heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.  Become cross trained in all areas of general and skilled maintenance, thereby reducing District dependence on outside service contractors. 

Location: Maintenance 

Salary

  • $17.50 - $22.50/hr. 

Days Per Year:  

  • Twelve-month employment.  
  • Salary and work year is established by the Board and Director of Maintenance and Facilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications:  

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One year training at accredited HVAC school or apprenticeship program. 
  • Prefer 3 years HVAC experience. 
  • Journey or Master level license or ability to work towards obtaining license upon employment. 
  • Ability to use technology such as computers and tablets effectively. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints. 
  • Must possess and maintain a Universal Refrigerant Certification. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds waist level and up to 60 pounds repetitively. 
  • Must have a positive attitude and ability to work with a team towards a common goal. 
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. 

Reports To

  • Director of Maintenance. 
  • Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. 

Job Responsibilities

STANDARD PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Responds to alarm systems in all District buildings, determining necessary action, during and after regular school hours. 
  • Provides assistance to other maintenance technicians to complete larger jobs outside of specific skilled trade, including but not limited to welding, electrical, mechanics, painting, plumbing, fire alarms, electronic lock systems, roofing, and cleaning. 
  • Willingness to respond in emergency situations after hours. 
  • Attend daily meetings regarding current work orders to help define completion of projects. 
  • Other general maintenance work; servicing equipment, pushing snow, grounds upkeep, and hauling as designated by supervisor. 
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure availability and safe operation at all times. 
  • Procures supplies and equipment necessary to maintain parts inventory for trade. 

 SKILLED TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Installation, maintenance and repair of air conditioning systems, heating systems, boilers, and pumps. 
  • Maintain and monitor electronic and computer controls for HVAC systems. 
  • Maintenance and repair of air compressors, air coolers, air dryers and drinking fountains. 
  • Maintain all HVAC filters in units and work with filter contractor to keep correct stock and sizes. 
  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of building plumbing systems (irrigation systems, sink faucets, urinals, toilets, potable water piping, waste and vent lines, drinking fountains, hot water boilers, gas lines, water heaters, pneumatic lines, etc.). 
  • Maintain backflow prevention devices and keep records updated for compliance. 
  • Maintain boilers licensing and inspection records for compliance. 
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.  

Salary/Pay

$17.50 - $22.50/hr.
