About This Role:

Facilities Building Maintenance is hiring a carpenter position. The carpenter will repair, remodel, and construct all types of university interiors and exteriors of buildings including (but not limited to) classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, laboratories, and tunnels in order to update or repair the structure, to keep it usable by the public sector served, including the construction of new wood and/or metal-framed walls; construct, repair, remove, and install all types of flooring materials, including removal of nonfriable asbestos floor tile; construct, install, and repair windows, wood paneling, sheetrock, trim, and insulation; hang doors, cabinets, acoustic tile, suspended ceilings, and door frames. Minor repair/patching of roofs and gutters.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journey/advanced level experience in carpentry.
  • Prefer experience in remodeling/renovation on a commercial scale. 
  • Construction science coursework would be beneficial.

Other Requirements:

  • Work requires considerable physical exertion in order to transport tools and supplies weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted on a repetitive basis during a normal workday to accomplish the assigned tasks.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license upon employment.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$18.00 per hour
