Manhattan Tech is committed to helping our students be successful. We recognize that you may need additional support and services, such as access to counseling and additional assistance.

Student Resources

Manhattan Area Technical College students, faculty, and staff are eligible for free rides. Students and staff must show their College Issued ID when boarding the bus in order to ride free. View ATA buses website for more information.

Full-time Manhattan Area Technical College students are eligible to purchase a membership to Kansas State University Recreational Complex. View KSU's Recreational Services page for costs and membership information.

Fort Riley Army Post

  • Find information about Fort Riley and the 1st Infantry Division including details about its units, installation services, and to assist in conducting installation business.  

Military One Source

  • Free for active duty military, Guard and Reserve Component Members, and their families. Provides comprehensive information including but not limited to deployment, reunion, relationship, grief, spouse employment and education, parenting and child care for active duty, Guard and Reserve Component members, and their families.

Manhattan Vet Center

  • Local veteran assistance office.

Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs Office

  • Provides Kansas veterans and their eligible dependents with service and program assistance.  

Fort Riley Child, Youth, and School Services (CYSS)

  • Supports military readiness by reducing the conflict between a Soldier's mission requirements and his or her parental responsibilities through programs for children 

Manhattan Common Table

  • Their mission is to organize and expand the Manhattan, Kansas community meal program.

Harvesters Food Locator

  • Harvesters mobilizes the power of our community to create equitable access to nutritious food and address the root causes and impact of hunger.

Flint Hills Breadbasket

  • Community Food Network created to minimize hunger by the distribution of food through community donations and volunteers.  Emergency food pantry hours found on this link.

Manhattan Housing Authority

  • Provides qualifying applicants with decent, safe, and afforda­ble housing.

Manhattan Emergency Shelter, Inc.

  • Provides three main progtams to the community includ­ing emergency shelter, supportive housing, and homelessness prevention.

Manhattan Area Habitat For Humanity

  • We are an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, International, serving both Riley and Pottawatomie counties. We develop our own resources and funds to build affordable housing in our area. 

Encore Shop

  • Provides low price clothing, household items, books, and toys for the community. 

Family Center Budget Shop 

  • Provides a resource to purchase used and new clothing items for all ages during the school year. Accept vouchers from other organizations. 

Goodwill Store

  • Provide clothing and household needs for everyone at an affordable cost. 

Ogden Friendship House of Hope 

  • Provides food and emergency financial aid for Ogden residents only. Thrift store to shop in for anyone for a small financial donation. 

Salvation Army

  • Provides emergency assistance for individuals or families in need. The Thrift Store sells clothing and household items at a reduced cost. 

Flint Hills Community Clinic

  • Provides non emergency medical services at no charge for Manhattan or Riley County residents with no health insurance living at or below 200% poverty. 

Pawnee Mental Health Services

  • Community Mental Health Center serving 10 counties in north central Kansas

Ascension Via Christi Manhattan

  • Hospital located in Manhattan, Kansas 

Stormont Vail Health Flint Hills Campus

  • Hospital located in Junction City, Kansas 

Riley County Health Department

  • A public health organization promoting community health and safety.

Konza Dental Clinic

  • At Konza Prairie Community Health Center, we offer a wide range of dental services with a smile! We provide affordable, high-quality care for all ages and we never refuse care due to an inability to pay. 

ATA Bus

  • The Flint Hills Area Transportation Agency (ATA Bus) plans, manages, and operates public transportation services within the Manhattan Urbanized Area, Junction City, Riley County, Pottawatomie County, and Geary County.

Green Apple Bikes

  • GAB is Manhattan-area, environmentally friendly public bike share.

American Red Cross

  • Service organization providing emergency assistance by volunteers and with the help of donations.  Military, veterans and their families can receive help with the challenges of military service.  If you need immediate assistance, contact your local Red Cross Chapter (link above).    

Laundry Love MHK

  • Suds Y’r Duds - 1453 Anderson Ave.
  • 2nd Tuesday of every month, 6:00-9:00 pm.
  • Up to 5 free loads of laundry per family.

Catholic Charities

  • A faith based social service provided that offers basic care bags containing personal hygiene and provides pregnancy maintenance and adoption services, counseling services, and relationship workshops to individuals in need.

National Substance Abuse Hotline

Substance Abuse Center of Kansas (SACK) 

  • The Substance Abuse Center of Kansas (SACK) is a non-profit that specializes in the prevention of, treatment of, and case management of state residents suffering from substance abuse. Call 316-267-3825 Monday through Saturday, 8AM to 5PM to speak with a specialist.

Big Lakes Development Center

  • Developmental disabilities support services.  

Three Rivers, Inc.

  • Provides independent living skills training, job coaching employment support, information and referral for disability related resources. Private pay attendant care for aging and disabled. Serving Clay, Geary, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie, Riley, Wabaunsee, and Wash­ington counties and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. 

Konza United Way, Inc 

  • Provides service to Clay, Marshall, Pottawatomie, Riley, Wabaunsee and Washington counties. 

Manhattan Workforce Center 

  • Staff can post an employer's job opening and conduct resume searches on KANSASWORKS.com. Provides job seeker and employers information on available programs and services, training providers, career and occupational data, job listings, and veteran services. 

Child Care Aware of Kansas

  • Child Care Resource & Referral agencies (CCR&Rs) help families find child care and assist child care providers with resources for their business.

Department for Children and Families (DCF) 

  • Provides Food Stamps, applications for KanCare Medi­caid for families and elderly/ disabled individuals, child care assistance, cash assistance and additional non-agency information. Vocational Rehabilitation to help disabled adults to find employment. Adult and children protective services. 

Riley County Family & Child Resource Center

  • Resource center for Riley county including information and support for issues like child care subsidies, Parents as Teachers, WIC, Healthy Start, public health education, information on immunizations, etc.

Sunflower CASA

  • Court-Appointed Special Advocates are local volunteers who help advocate for abused / neglected children in the court system.

FIT Closet

  • The USD 383 FIT Closet & Clothing Exchange exists to serve students within our school district who are struggling with homelessness and/or poverty.

Boys and Girls Club

  • Our purpose is to provide caring, adult professionals and a safe place for youth to learn and grow where hope and opportunity is provided through life-enhancing programs and character development experiences. Before school, after school, during the summer months and on Friday nights, the Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan engages members in fun and educational activities that help develop a sound moral compass and influence their ability to succeed in life.

Thrive!

  • Thrive! is working to reduce poverty by building skills and relationships that strengthen families and individuals. After an initial 10-week training, individuals living in poverty are matched with volunteers from the community to work as a team for 18 months to build the resources needed to improve their lives. The entire family is part of the process. Quality youth program­ming and a meal are also part of our weekly meetings. 

Fairy Godmothers Fund 

  • Provides flexible accessible monies to improve the health and well being of area women 18 years of age and older. Maximum grant amount is $800. The recipients are asked to help someone else in the future through a pay-it­forward principle.

Guardians

  • Providing access to funds for men with limited resources and immediate financial needs within the greater Manhattan area. They provide access to funds for essential services not met by traditional funding sources. 

Housing and Credit Counseling Inc.

  • Provides counseling which is approved by HUD and regu­lated by the Office of the Kansas Bank Commissioner. A local, trusted source for: student loan repayment and con­solidation, credit building and reports, debt repayment (including medical), budgeting, mortgage default, bank­ruptcy, and reverse mortgage. 

Kansas Legal Services

  • Provides free legal assistance to low income Kansas for various general civil legal issues where housing, income and family rela­tionships need to be protected. Persons who are victims of crime and/or abused who are at risk for losing housing, in­come and/ or family relationships receive priority assistance. Generally there is no charge for legal services. 

Shepherds Crossing

  • Provides financial assistance with utility bills, rent, and prescription drugs. 

Crisis Center Inc. 

  • Provides confidential, round the clock services to victims of sexual or domestic violence. Services include crisis intervention, supportive counseling, advocacy, and safe shelter. 

Katie’s Way 

  • Provides evidence-based assessment and treatment of behavioral and mental health conditions for children and young adults, ages 2-26. 

Morning Star Inc

  • Provides mental health recovery services and programs on a walk in basis. Programs include peer run activities geared to help connect members to others and their community. 

Pawnee Mental Health Services 

  • Licensed mental health and licensed substance abuse  center providing services in ten north central Kansas counties, including Riley County. Counseling services for adults, children, and families. Services include individual and group therapy, substance abuse programs, Batters Intervention Program, Alcohol and Drug Information classes, psychological testing, medication evaluation and management, psychosocial rehabilitation groups, Mental Health First Aid classes, Parenting Workshops, and  Employee Assistance Program.
