A program that generally prepares individuals in the knowledge, techniques, and procedures for promoting health, providing care for the sick, disabled, infirm, or other individuals or groups.
Covers drug classifications, uses, side effects, interactions, and nursing care for common health conditions; administering medications, monitoring oxygen, applying non-sterile dressings; plus, legal/ethical considerations, and proper communication/documentation.
Throughout the course, students develop essential nursing care skills, learn to work safely, and cultivate empathy for individuals in long-term care. Competencies are assessed through classroom instruction, lab practice, and clinical experiences.
A program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of clinical laboratory scientists/medical technologists, to perform routine medical laboratory procedures and tests and to apply preset strategies to record and analyze data.
Phlebotomists are responsible for collecting blood, urine, and other samples, appropriately packaging them and preparing them to be sent for off-site or on-site analysis as requested by medical personnel.
Includes instruction in taking patient vital signs, applying sterile dressings, patient health education, and assistance with examinations and treatment.
