Job Description

Engineering Associate I                                                                 

The Engineering Associate (EA) is assigned to an Area Engineer’s office and receives on-the job training consisting of construction inspection, and district and area offices orientation. The employee performs such duties as surveying, staking right-of-way, checking computations, calculating final pay quantities on construction projects, and inspection of work performed by contractors by reviewing construction and applicable specifications. 

 

Education

  • Graduate from an ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) accredited engineering school.

Licensing & Certification

  • Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) or Intern Engineer Certificate within first year of hire.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering
  • Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) or EIT Certificate obtained

Job Responsibilities

Performs on site inspection of contractor’s operations, equipment, construction signing, safety measures, EEO procedures and wage rate sufficiency’s, reviews procedures and inspection techniques at sources of supply and distribution of materials incorporated into projects and reviews adequacy of design material combinations.


Assists with the activities of technical crews on assigned projects as an engineer-in-training. Such crews will be charged with the inspection of materials and construction operations in order to insure that the intent of the plans and specifications are carried out.


Prepares all necessary field books and prepare computations to substantiate all plan quantities.


Prepares periodic and final reports such as contractor’s payment vouchers, weekly contractors report, log of pile driving, etc.


Coordinates communication with Construction Managers/Coordinators, Utility Coordinators, Construction Surveyors and/or Contractor in order to insure proper flow and sequence of operations.

Salary/Pay

Base Annual Salary:  $66,560.00
