Brett Ballou grew up in Salina, Kansas being exposed to the construction industry. His grandfather and father owned and operated an asphalt paving business. Many of their summer vacations were spent touring road projects all over Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. Deciding vertical construction was more his style, Brett started K-State's Construction Science program in 1995.
While still in college, Brett began working for Schultz Construction as an intern. Under the tutelage of Roger & Tim Schultz, Brett quickly put his classroom work to use and help grow their business. After graduation he served as a project manager and vice president of operations. In 2012 he bought into the company and was promoted to his current position of President. Schultz Construction's growth, both geographically and staffing, is due to their organizational leadership and commitment to quality in all facets of their business. Brett is very driven and results oriented, which has facilitated their growth and new ownership transition.
He also serves on the Flinthills Area Builders Association board, Grand Mere Master HOA board and the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation. Brett, and his wife Liz, have five daughters (Cody, Izzy, Ellie (twin), Addie (twin) and Brooklynn. He enjoys playing golf and tennis, as well as, all things K-State sports.
