Graduates of the Business Administration Program at Manhattan Area Technical College are prepared to:

1. Prepare complex documents according to workplace standards
2. Prepare and deliver professional presentations on various topics
3. Exhibit interpersonal skills in a team setting
4. Create professional employment documents
5. Demonstrate knowledge of business ownership and management to create a business plan
6. Utilize the Internet to obtain information
7. Utilize industry-specific software to develop professional documents, presentations, workbooks, and databases and to enhance productivity
8. Purposely and effectively organize and prioritize spaces, time, and tasks within a business environment
9. Use current and emerging technologies to solve workplace problems through presentation, research, analysis, and synthesis
10. Demonstrate knowledge of the ethical frameworks of business
11. Identify and correct common communication problems including awareness of diversity issues which affect the workplace
12. Exhibit ability to effectively communicate, both through oral and written communications
13. Understand and apply principles associated with maintaining good mental and physical health, professionalism in the workplace, and personal grooming

Accounting Support

1. Prepare journal entries and post to ledgers

3. Prepare billing documents and write effective collection letters
4. Prepare payroll forms and verify information
5. Apply accounting concepts to accounting software
6. Apply accounting concepts to a corporation
7. Apply accounting concepts to nonprofit and governmental accounting
8. Explain generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as they apply to ethical business decisions
9. Demonstrate an understanding of terminology related to accounting careers and understand the career opportunities available

Administrative Support

1. Demonstrate basic knowledge of general clerical functions (e.g., filing, telephones, photocopying)
2. Prepare complex documents according to workplace standards
3. Utilize software to enhance productivity
4. Exhibit interpersonal skills in a team setting
5. Create and organize work to be included in a professional portfolio
6. Plan business meetings and travel that includes appointments, accommodations, and transportation
7. Use critical thinking to apply advanced software skills to workplace scenarios
