This capstone course will be a team-focused, integrated-learning opportunity that will move the student experience from a lab environment to a real-world, Internet-live experience. The students, as part of a team, will design, install, and maintain an enterprise network. The student will also experience industry culture, standards, and practices. The capstone project incorporates skills from all the required courses but involves the actual application of those skills. Project management techniques with an emphasis on the design and management of computer information systems and controlling project risks, budgets, and quality assurance will be included. The project will require student teams to analyze potential design alternatives, interpret results, document best practices, and report their findings. There will be opportunities to explore emerging and converging information technologies and their implications. A final oral and visual presentation of this project will reflect a degree of skill competency as a communicator.
