Level B Automotive Technician

Job Description

The Level B Technician is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, diagnostics, and repair work while supporting shop productivity and quality standards. This position requires strong mechanical ability, the capability to handle most repairs independently, and a commitment to accurate diagnostics, efficiency, and teamwork.

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of automotive repair experience (or equivalent training).
• Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to work independently on most repairs.
• Experience using diagnostic tools and service information systems.
• Ability to properly identify needed repairs and avoid “parts swapping.”
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Own professional-grade tools required for daily work.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
• ASE Certifications (or willingness to obtain).
• Alignment experience.
• Electrical diagnostic experience.
• Familiarity with digital inspections and shop management software.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general automotive repairs including:
  • Brakes, steering, and suspension
  • Cooling system service and repairs
  • R&R of major components (radiators, water pumps, alternators, starters, etc.)
  • Tire installation, balancing, and alignments (as assigned)
  • Scheduled maintenance services
• Conduct basic to intermediate diagnostics using scan tools and testing equipment.
• Accurately document findings, recommendations, and completed work.
• Complete jobs within established labor times while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
• Perform thorough vehicle inspections and communicate safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist Level A Technician with advanced diagnostics when needed.
• Follow all shop safety procedures and manufacturer service guidelines.
