Job Description

The Maintenance Technician supports the safe and efficient operation of a multi-tenant medical facility by performing routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance of building systems and common areas. This role responds to service requests, assists with after-hours and emergency needs as assigned, and maintains compliance with healthcare, safety, and regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities

Duties

  • Maintain all buildings, common areas, and exterior spaces within a multi-tenant medical campus in a safe, clean, and operational condition that supports continuous clinical operations.
  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance across shared building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, doors, flooring, and life-safety components.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from multiple medical practices, prioritizing tasks based on patient safety, operational impact, and urgency.
  • Participate in snow and ice removal operations, including early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday response, to ensure safe access to buildings, parking areas, and emergency routes.
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours rotations to address urgent facility issues, alarms, or emergencies affecting tenants or building systems.
  • Coordinate access, scheduling, and oversight of external contractors and service providers to minimize disruption to patient care and tenant operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of common areas, mechanical rooms, and tenant-adjacent spaces, documenting findings and corrective actions in the work order system.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal safety, infection-control, and confidentiality standards appropriate to healthcare environments.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and discretion when interacting with physicians, clinical staff, patients, visitors, and tenant representatives.
  • Support tenant move-ins, move-outs, and space modifications, including furniture movement, minor construction, and coordination with vendors.
  • Safely operate and maintain tools, equipment, and materials in accordance with facility policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of overall facility operations.
