Steps to enroll for Adult Education

Step 1: COMPLETE ENROLLMENT FORM

Submit the Adult Education Enrollment Form. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older at the time of registration.

GED applicants under 18 years of age must provide official documentation of school withdrawal.
You can submit this documentation with the students application or drop them off at the welcome desk inside our Manhattan campus main building.

Enrollment forms must be submitted the Wednesday prior to an orientation date in order to attend that orientation.

Step 2: ADVISING APPOINTMENT

We ask our new and incoming students to meet with our Academic Advisor Beth Dugan. This will be a short 30-min meeting for us to meet you and get an understanding of your goals and expectations for the program.

Step 3: TABE PRE-TEST

Every new student will need to take a few TABE Pre-Tests. (Test of Adult Basic Education)

Similar to a placement exam, this is a requirement of our program and it will test your Reading and Math (GE) or English (ESL) Skills. The results of these tests will be reviewed with you during your one-on-one instructor conference after orientation.

TABE pre- and post-tests provide you and your instructor with valuable information that informs us with what you already know and what areas you will need more work. We encourage you to schedule a time(s) to take that pre-test prior to orientation.

Schedule Pre-Test

You can do this all in one appointment or schedule two and split it up.

You are allotted 3.5 hours for this pre-testing if you choose to do it all together, however you are not required to use the entire time for your testing.
Testing prior to orientation is not required. If you are unable to take the test prior to orientation, time will be available the day of to complete the pre-test.

Step 4: ATTEND NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

Every new student MUST attend a New Student Orientation prior to beginning Adult Education classes.

See Adult Edcation page for upcoming orientation date.

PLEASE arrive early to accommodate for parking and locating our building. Late arrivals may be turned away.

In addition to orientation, you will schedule a one-on-one conference with your instructor to go over your TABE results, goals, and expectations for the program.

Classes will start the following week.
