Job Title: Paraeducator

 

Job Brief:  

  • We are looking for people who enjoy being a part of a school community and are able to implement educational programs for students with special needs. Your responsibilities will include reinforcing learning for students, providing positive behavior support, and implementing lesson plans to help students with disabilities. Location: Various school locations through Manhattan and Ogden.

Hours Per Day:

  • Times may vary depending on the building assignment. 
  • Flexible hours depending on availability. 
  • Average work day = 7.5 hours. 

Days Per Year:

  • Positions available during the regular school year.
  • Options for summer employment.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED. 
     
  • Successfully passing the Master Teacher Para Assessment test OR a minimum requirement of 48 college hours. 
     
  • CPR and First Aid certificates highly recommended. 
     
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

Job Responsibilities

Job Duties:

  • Support student’s Individual Education Plan (collect data, observations, etc.) 
  • Assist or directly carry out educational activities designed by the educator. 
  • Independently instruct students in all subject areas. 
  • Work with individual students, small groups, or the entire class at the discretion of the educator. 
  • Prepare materials for individual students. 
  • Perform assigned lunch/recess/bus duties including supervise cafeteria and playground, and supervise student’s pre and post boarding of buses. 
  • Support students who may need assistance with personal care. 
  • Attend in-service training (minimum of 20 hours of approved training is required and provided by USD 383). 
  • Respect the confidentiality and privacy of all students, parents, and staff members. 
  • Other duties as assigned by educator.

Salary/Pay

Salary:

  • $11.50 – 14.50/hour. 
  • Paraeducators assigned to district level programs are paid an additional $1/hour.
