Security Installation Technician

Job Description

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results driven and forward-thinking Security Installation Technician to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will install, program, test, repairs, and service a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety with minimal guidance as needed. You will work closely with customers and internal colleagues in providing technical installation support and training. Qualifications:

Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience:

Previous construction experience including some level of electrical or a low voltage background
1-3 years experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation
Preferred Experience (but not required):

Relevant trade designation (e.g. Electrician, Communications)
Experience with access control and camera systems

Job Responsibilities

Experience installing and wiring access control, network cameras, door hardware, panel installation & wiring, and programming of door and camera additions.
Comfortability performing test and inspect on fire systems.
Solid understanding of blueprints, design drawings including wiring and labeling methods, system wiring, wiring methods, cut sheets, wiring schematics, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support).
Very familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted, may require assistance with more complex specifications.
Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).
Solid verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
The Project Specialist will be responsible for providing basic hand tools as required to perform the daily tasks of the position.
A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
