About the Role

RM Steel Buildings is seeking experienced Structural Welders to support the fabrication and erection of pre-engineered metal buildings. This role involves field and/or shop welding of structural components, ensuring all work meets industry standards for strength, safety, and quality.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• 2+ years of structural welding experience (metal building or construction preferred)
• Proficiency in SMAW (stick) and/or FCAW (flux core) welding
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings
• AWS certification (preferred but not always required)
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work in physically demanding environments
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on rigid frame steel buildings using SMAW and FCAW processes
• Weld beams, columns, rafters, purlins, girts, and base plates
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols
• Assist with steel erection, alignment, and connection of structural components
• Operate welding and cutting equipment (grinders, torches, plasma cutters)
• Inspect welds and perform repairs to meet quality standards
• Follow all safety procedures, including fall protection and PPE requirements
• Work at heights using lifts, ladders, or scaffolding as needed
• Collaborate with ironworkers, foremen, and site supervisors
