Class Cancellation For Today

Commencement Update - Posted 5/1

Author: Manhattan Tech

Dear Students:

The priority during this unprecedented global pandemic is the health and safety of our Manhattan Area Technical College family. With that in mind, the decision has been made to cancel May 2020 Commencement Ceremonies.

You have worked hard to obtain your degree and we couldn't be any prouder of the Class of 2020 for your achievements in and outside of the classroom. We understand your disappointment, but we want to do everything we can to recognize you for your accomplishments.

Therefore, all eligible May 2020 graduates will receive their Manhattan Tech diplomas, diploma covers, graduation programs and, as appropriate, honors ropes in the mail at the end of the semester if all college and financial requirements are met. Those will be mailed approximately 12-14 weeks after grades are finalized. We also encourage and welcome graduates to participate in the December 2020 ceremony, which will be held on SATURDAY, DEC. 19, 2020 at the KSU Student Union Ballroom.

Other Important Deadlines/Information

All students who are finishing their program in May 2020 MUST complete an Intent to Graduate Form. This form is located on MATC online/Students/Registrar/Registration forms/Intent to Graduate (you will need to be logged into your MATC account to access this form). Once the form is filled out and submitted, your request and payment will be processed. If you have not completed the form, please do so ASAP.

The $25 fee paid with the Intent to Graduate form is to cover the cost of conferring the degree verifying all requirements have been met to be awarded corresponding certificate and/or Associated Applied Science Degree. All students must submit the form regardless of whether they walk in Commencement or not.

We are as disappointed as you that we will not be able to celebrate with you and your loved ones during a May ceremony. We hope that you all continue to stay safe and healthy during this time. If there are questions or concerns please address them to safety@manhattantech.edu.

Sincerely,
Manhattan Area Technical College
