The Electric Power and Distribution program enhances students’ knowledge and technical skills required to succeed in the electrical distribution industry. Graduates of the Electric Power and Distribution program will be able to successfully install, maintain, and operate electrical systems to supply electrical energy to residential, commercial, and industrial customers and to join gas and electrical underground generation facilities.
The EPD program provides the training needed to construct, operate, and maintain power line equipment. This program is one of only a handful in the United States that has open admission to the public. The program begins in January of each year and a summer internship is required.

The AAS in Electric Power and Distribution trains students for a career in the power industry, focusing on electrical theory, overhead and underground line construction, transformer installation, and safety practices.
The Certificate C in Electric Power and Distribution prepares students for entry-level roles in the power industry, with training in line construction, electrical theory, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
The estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) is a budget that includes categories of expenses that a student can expect to incur while attending college. The COA does not reflect actual charges. It is an average based on the estimated living costs typical of our region. A student's cost of attendance is composed of all educational expenses that can be included for financial aid purposes that a student may accrue while pursuing their education for the year. A student's financial aid cannot exceed their cost of attendance. Schools are required to provide a fuller picture of what it may cost students to pursue their degree, not just what they will owe in tuition/fees and books/supplies. Submit an undergraduate admissions application and pay the applicable application fee.

Once your application has been processed and you are a new student, you will receive an email to your personal email address listed on your application. This email will provide instructions on how to access your student portal and set your password. This will be the only communication with your personal email and communication after will be with your Manhattan Tech email address.
Federal Financial Aid is available in the form of grants, loans, and work study. If you would like to be considered for federal and state financial aid programs, complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can submit the FAFSA online through the Department of Education’s site: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. Manhattan Tech’s school code is 005500. We accept various military education benefits. Please refer to our website for details.
Official high school and college transcripts can be mailed or transferred electronically (registrar@manhattantech.edu) directly from the issuing institution and received by the Registrar prior to registration. Additional questions about can be directed to our registrar's page.
Schedule an appointment for the Placement Assessment, if applicable. Manhattan Tech uses the Accuplacer assessment for placement into math and English courses. If you have taken the ACT (within the last three years) or college level math/English classes, you may not need to take the Accuplacer. Consult with your advisor to determine your requirements.
Seating is limited in this program and students are required to provide a valid unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) via secure file upload.
After admissions confirms receipt of the Class A CDL the student will be eligible to submit a $500.00 non-refundable seat deposit and intent form for enrollment into program classes. This form will be provided to your Manhattan Tech email address upon completion of applicable admission requirements.
After all applicable admissions requirements have been completed you will be provided notice from admissions to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor for enrollment. To schedule an advising appointment book online.
Students are required to attend Program Orientation. During these activities, faculty and staff provide vital information that will help students make a successful transition to Manhattan Area Technical College, including Manhattan Tech Policies and Procedures, Program Course Schedules, Performance Expectations, and Tools/Equipment/Uniform requirements.

Students must have set up a payment option by the first day of class or have communicated with our Student Account Coordinator in regards to payment options. If you have questions about tuition, please check out the business office webpage, or contact Student Accounts for more information. Manhattan Tech requires regular and punctual attendance in all classes.
Some academic programs require you to have equipment, tools, supplies, and uniforms on the first day of class. Other programs have compiled a tool kit that is required for the students to purchase that will be attending those programs. The tool kits and supplies will be available on program orientation day. On program orientation, day students will be required to submit a non-refundable seat deposit. Refer below for seat deposit and tool requirements for each program.
