Certified Nurse Aide

Cert. Completion

Throughout the course, students develop essential nursing care skills, learn to work safely, and cultivate empathy for individuals in long-term care. Competencies are assessed through classroom instruction, lab practice, and clinical experiences. Upon completing the course and passing the state exam, students are credentialed as Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) in Kansas. The CNA credential is necessary for employment as a CNA and is often a prerequisite for entry into nursing and other health care education programs. This course follows the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) curriculum.

Certified Nurse Aide Refresher Course

The Certified Nurse Aide Refresher course is for CNAs who have held the Kansas Certified Nurse Aide certification but are not active (their certification has lapsed) and want to reactivate their CNA status.  The session includes an assessment of written and oral knowledge as well as a discussion and demonstration of CNA skills.  Upon successful completion, KDADS/Health Occupations Credentialing is notified and the certification is reactivated for two years.
