Students may meet with an advisor for a variety of reasons: enrollment, program planning, questions about transferring credit, withdrawing, review degree requirements, and course substitutions to name a few. Non-academic concerns may also be discussed with your advisor. Your advisor may refer you to other departments or personnel to expedite the support you need.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of students and their education records.
FERPA says colleges / universities cannot release student information without the written permission of the student. This means student information cannot be shared with others (parents, spouses, or other individuals) without student consent and student signature.
The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. Also called the Buckley Amendment, FERPA ensures the following rights to all students:

An evaluation of transfer credit will be completed after an admission application has been submitted. The student must request official transcripts be sent from the accredited institution to the Manhattan Tech Registrar's Office, registrar@manhattantech.edu. Credit from unofficial transcripts will not be considered for transfer. The Registar or his or her designee will determine the equivalency of transfer courses. In most cases the transcript will be evaluated within 30 days of receipt by the Office of the Registrar.

However, as a student you will receive instruction and assistance in all aspects of your job search, including resume/cover letter preparation, researching prospective employers, and interviewing. We have an extensive network of area employers who routinely look to Manhattan Tech first when hiring new employees. If you complete your program of study, and if you are somewhat flexible as to where you go to work and what type of company/business you want work for, we average high placement of our graduates.
Yes, you do need to meet with an advisor. Your advisor will not only provide information to consider when making educational choices, but they will also help keep you on track with regard to program requirements as well as your expected graduation date. Yes. Changing your program is permitted. A Change of Program Request form must be completed by meeting with an academic advisor. Meeting with an advisor and completing a form initiates the process.
Canvas is the Learning Management System (or LMS) used by faculty to organize their courses. Students can access and submit their assignments as well as connect with instructors in Canvas. It is user-friendly and contains many tools to help students navigate online coursework.
A pre-requisite is a course or requirement that must be taken in order to register for another course. A co-requisite is a course that you can take at the same time as another course. In some cases co-requisites are required.
