Jim started his career in higher education with Emporia State University (KS) in 1983, working with federal education grant programs. He completed his Master of History degree at ESU, and his thesis was: The People Be Dammed: The Tale of Tuttle Creek, a history of the effort of residents to try and stop the dam project and save their farms and communities.
In addition to working for ESU, Jim served as a higher education administrator and instructor with Southern Arkansas University, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Spoon River College (IL), Neosho County Community College (Chanute, KS), and for the past seven years as President/CEO of Manhattan Area Technical College.
In 2017 Jim completed his Ph.D. from Walden University in Public Policy and Administration.
