How Funds are Applied

All financial aid funds, except Federal Work Study funds, are applied directly to your student account. The account includes educational fees/tuition and other charges. Usually one-half of your aid is credited to your account for the fall semester and the other half is credited for the spring semester. If you are looking to take courses in the summer please notify the office so we can withhold some of your aid for that semester.

If you receive a scholarship check from a source outside the college, you should mail the check to our office at 3136 Dickens Ave Manhattan, KS 66503. Be sure to include your Manhattan Tech student ID number on any correspondence.

Requirements

In order for your financial aid funds to be applied to your student account, you must have:

Federal Work Study

As you earn Federal Work Study funds, you will be paid through the college's biweekly payroll system. Pay is directly deposited to your bank account.

Excess Funds

Any Pell Grant or Direct loans will be applied against a student's tuition and fees first. If an overpayment occurs, the student will be provided a check or direct deposit for the difference. The Business Office generally processes credit balance refunds several times a month.  Please refer to your Financial Aid Portal home page for dates.  Checks are typically mailed to the student's address on record.  For the quickest receipt of your credit balance refund, we suggest you use Direct Deposit.

Disbursement Timeline

30-day Delay Policy

All financial aid funds will begin disbursing approximately 30 days after the start of class.  All financial aid refunds will be processed after disbursement.  The 30 days begin on the first day of the semester.  You should be prepared for this delay, including arrangements for living expenses.  Book vouchers will be available for eligible students through the first week of the semester to assist with book costs.  If your finalized financial aid awards equal or exceed your balance due and you have no remaining requirements for the financial aid process, your tuition and fees will be deferred, and your enrollment will be exempt from cancellation due to nonpayment.
