CASAS Reading Test

Prior to enrollment in a CNA or CMA course, prospective students may be required to complete a CASAS reading test.  The CASAS reading test is used by Manhattan Tech to qualify enrollment into CNA and CMA continuing education courses.  Even if you are not sure when you might actually enroll in a CNA or CMA class, we advise you to complete this assessment in order to be ready to enroll as new classes are opened.

Who Takes the CASAS?

If you are enrolling in a CNA or CMA continuing education course with Manhattan Tech, then you may be required to take the CASAS reading assessment in order to complete your enrollment.  To learn about the admissions process please visit Admissions.

What if I'm not enrolling in a Manhattan Tech Course?  No problem.  If you are taking a CNA, CMA, or HHA course with another institution or through We Care Online then we can accommodate you.

If one of the following waiver conditions has been met, then a CASAS reading test may not be necessary:

  • Score of Level 4-7 on WorkKeys Reading
  • Score of 236 or higher on Level C-CASAS Reading (within 3 years)
  • Completed English Composition I with a “C” or higher through an accredited college

Students must provide Manhattan Tech with a transcript to verify grade.

If you do not meet one of these waiver conditions, then a CASAS reading test is required.  If you are unsure please contact our Admissions Office at 785.587.2800.
