Auto Collision and Dental Hygiene Programs Being Discontinued

On January 28, 2020, after careful consideration, the Manhattan Area Technical College Board of Directors made the difficult decision to discontinue the Dental Hygiene and Automotive Collision Repair program. The College annually reviews programs/courses for financial stability, growth vitality, and economic impact regionally and locally, which has led to this determination. As a result, the College will cease admitting students into the Dental Hygiene and Automotive Collision Repair program effective Fall of 2020.

2019 SkillsUSA Officers

Manhattan Area Technical College's SkillsUSA Student Organization hosted the NC District 2 SkillsUSA Conference on campus in room 406 on September 12, 2019 from 9:00-11:00 AM. We had the pleasure of hosting several students from Manhattan High School as well as students from Manhattan Tech SkillsUSA chapters. At the end of the conference elections took place for students to serve as district officers of their SkillsUSA chapters. The photo displayed are the current representing officers for MHS and Manhattan Tech.

2-Year Colleges With the Highest and Lowest 3-Year Graduation Rates

The Chronicle of Higher Education released findings on the 2-Year Colleges With the Highest and Lowest 3-Year Graduation Rates in which they assessed institutions 3 year graduation rates. The Chronicle of Higher Education compared more then 870 two-year publicly funded colleges. Of the top 25 school listed, 5 of them were technical colleges located in Kansas. Manhattan Area Technical college ranked #25 on the list of compared 876 institutions.

2019’s Best & Worst Community Colleges

Wallet Hub released findings on the 2019’s Best & Worst Community Colleges in which they assessed where students can receive the best education at the lowest price. Wallet Hub compared more then 700 community colleges across 17 key indicators related to cost and quality. Some of those indicators consisted of cost of in-state tuition, graduation rate, and student-faculty ratio. Across those indicators Manhattan Area Technical college ranked #1 in the state of Kansas for the second year in a row and nationally ranked #56.

SkillsUSA Students Compete at Nationals

Manhattan Tech students Sheldon Wilson (HVAC Gold Medal) and Philip Champion (Job Interview Gold Medal) who placed first from the Kansas State Leadership and Skills Competition are attending the National SkillsUSA Conference in Louisville, Kentucky June 24-28, 2019. There, they will compete against winners from all across the nation in the largest display of skills training in the country.

ManhattanTech seeking Board of Directors applicants

Members of the Board hold unpaid, non-elected positions for a three-year term of office.  Interested persons must be a resident in one of the following counties: Riley, Pottawatomie, Geary, Dickinson, Clay or Marshall. SkillsUSA Students Win Big at State Competition

Students recently attended the SkillsUSA Kansas State Competition representing Manhattan Area Technical College. The conference, held April 24-26 in Hutchinson, KS was attended by students and advisors from technical colleges around the state. Students competed against others in various areas including Leadership, Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Repair, and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
