Tech Night at Wamego

On March 4th, Manhattan Tech had the opportunity to host ‘Tech Night’ at Wamego High School. Nearly 70 students and families joined us for our first annual tech night highlighting our allied health and Trade & Industry programs, adult education, short term, and general education courses. Families were able to explore careers, speak with program instructors, and learn about the admissions process.

Manhattan Area Technical College RFP# MATC 2018-0003: Manhattan Area Technical College is soliciting Request for Proposals (RFP) to establish a contract for the installation of a Camfil Farr GS18 dust collection system at the welding training facility located at 3136 Dickens Ave, Manhattan, KS 66503, Building 500.  Additional information, such questions, criteria, etc., are provided within the RFP. Interested parties will need to submit proposals to the following address no later than 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4th, 2019.

On December 4-5, Manhattan Keystone/LKQ Corp. managed by Chad Blockcolsky and representatives from Akzo Nobel donated a brand new paint mix system to the Automotive Collision Repair Program. Akzo Nobel donated a Lesonal solvent based mix system with all of the required toners, primers, clears, mix bank, computers, weight scale and a spectrophotometer so that the program will have everything it needs to mix and match colors on late model cars. The representatives also willingly contributed their time to training the instructor and students.

On October 30th, Manhattan Tech had the opportunity to host 65 freshman and 62 sophomore students from USD 364 (Marysville) for a college and career exploration day. Today, Governor Jeff Colyer spoke at the Inaugural Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Conference in Wichita, KS. Our Vice President of Student Success, Sarah Phillips, and Director of Adult Education, Chris Boxberger, had an opportunity to meet and speak with Governor Colyer about issues related to Career Technical Education and Adult Education. 

Governor Colyer stated "he was proud of Manhattan Tech. His continue support of technical education reflects in the success of MATC’s students, faculty, and staff. #HireEducation"

Wallet Hub released findings on the 2018’s Best & Worst Community Colleges in which they assessed where students can recieve the best education at the lowest price. Wallet Hub compared more then 700 community colleges across 17 key indicators related to cost and quality. Some of those indicators consisted of cost of in-state tution, graduation rate, and student-faculty ratio. Across those indicators Manhattan Area Technical college ranked #1 in the state of Kansas and nationally ranked #20.
