Medical Laboratory Technology

AAS

Medical Laboratory Technicians prepare and analyze specimens using body fluids and cells. They use microscopes and other sophisticated laboratory equipment and computerized instruments to test and analyze results. Lab technicians usually work under the supervision of medical and clinical laboratory technologists.

The Medical Laboratory Technology program at Manhattan Tech uses a blended instructional model. Lectures are online and accessed through Manhattan Tech’s learning management system. Laboratory and clinical skills training is provided in a traditional face-to-face format, using instruments and equipment found in the modern laboratory.

This program aligns with the Kansas Board of Regents Curriculum.

MLT Program Outcomes:

MLT graduates will demonstrate entry level knowledge and competency in all areas of the clinical laboratory.
MLT graduates will demonstrate an average of at least 75% on the Board of Certification exam as calculated by the most recent three-year period.
- For MATC MLT students who graduated 7/1/21 – 6/30/22, the certification exam pass rate was 100%.
- For MATC MLT students who graduated 7/1/22 – 6/30/23, the certification exam pass rate was 100%.
- For MATC MLT students who graduated 7/1/23 – 6/30/24, the certification exam pass rate was 100%.
At least 70% of students who have begun the final half of the MLT program will successfully graduate from the program as calculated by the most recent three-year period.
- For MATC MLT students projected to graduate 7/1/21 – 6/30/22, the graduation rate was 100%

Send an official high school transcript or GED transcript. Send Official transcripts from ALL current and previously attended colleges/universities.

Transcripts must be official—sent directly from the college where you took a course to the Registrar at MATC. If the institution has the capability, official transcripts can be sent via email to registrar@manhattantech.edu. Please apply to the college before sending transcripts.

The estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) is a budget that includes categories of expenses that a student can expect to incur while attending college. The COA does not reflect actual charges. It is an average based on the estimated living costs typical of our region. A student's cost of attendance is composed of all educational expenses that can be included for financial aid purposes that a student may accrue while pursuing their education for the year. A student's financial aid cannot exceed their cost of attendance. Schools are required to provide a fuller picture of what it may cost students to pursue their degree, not just what they will owe in tuition/fees and books/supplies. Manhattan Area Technical College does not require vaccinations. Manhattan Tech partners with multiple health systems and healthcare providers to provide clinical and programmatic experiences for our students; many of our clinical partners require all students to have received COVID-19 and other vaccines before their on-site experiences and training may begin. As a result, unvaccinated students could be precluded from participating in these activities, potentially impacting their ability to complete all program requirements.

Exemption Process

Students may seek a medical or religious exemption from an immunization requirement. Approval for an exemption is dependent on the clinical site. Below is the process for requesting an exemption:
