FAQs - Concurrent vs. Dual

Concurrent Enrollment: 

These are classes at a high school at which approved high school instructors teach college credit during the normal school day (KBOR 8b 1i). 

Dual Credit: 

Classes in which the high school student travels to the college campus to take courses prior to graduation during the academic year or in the summer (KBOR 8b vii). 

Classes in which college faculty travel to the high school to teach separate courses to the high school students (KBOR 8b vii).

FAQs - Preparing for Appointment

Students may meet with an advisor for a variety of reasons:  enrollment, program planning, questions about transferring credit, withdrawing, review degree requirements, and course substitutions to name a few.  Non-academic concerns may also be discussed with your advisor.  Your advisor may refer you to other departments or personnel to expedite the support you need.

Suzanne is a native Kansan and grew up in Emporia.  She earned her Master's degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Emporia State University. Suzanne is the primary advisor for the following programs:  Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Automotive Collision Repair, Automotive Technology, Building Trades, Business Administration, Electric Power & Distribution, Information & Network Technology, Welding Technology, Pre-Biotechnology Laboratory Technician, Pre-Dental Hygiene, and Pre-Medical Laboratory Technology.

  • Contact your faculty advisor directly for the following programs (students who are currently taking program courses in these programs):  Associate Degree Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Practical Nursing.
